Draft — pending legal review
Privacy Policy
This draft explains how Quest handles personal information for learners, families and schools in Kenya.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Quest is operated by Nova Pioneer PSSP Limited, a Kenyan company and subsidiary of Nova Pioneer.
Placeholder — Data controller contact details to be supplied.
2. Information collected at signup
We collect the learner's first and last name, gender, a chosen Quest ID, a password, and one recovery contact: either an email address or a phone number.
Learners choose an avatar from a character set supplied by Quest. Learners cannot upload photographs of themselves as profile pictures.
3. Information stored while using Quest
We store activity responses, scores, progress, portfolio documents, and conversations with Quest Coach. This allows the learner's work and plan to build over time.
4. How we use information
We use this information to provide and improve the learner's Quest journey, save progress, generate feedback, support accounts, protect the service, and help authorised schools monitor the learners connected to them.
5. Quest Coach and commercial AI processing
Learner work submitted to Quest Coach is sent to a commercial AI service under a paid business agreement to generate feedback and replies. That work is not used to train the service provider's models. Quest Coach provides feedback and coaching; it does not do the learner's work or make decisions for them.
6. Who can access learner information
The learner can access their own information. Where the learner joined through a school, their teacher and school administrator can access relevant progress and completed work. A small number of authorised Quest staff can access information when necessary for support and problem resolution.
7. No sale of data and no advertising
We do not sell learner data. Quest does not run advertising and does not share learner information with advertisers or data brokers.
8. Where information is hosted
Placeholder — Hosting region to be supplied.
9. How long information is kept
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.
Placeholder — Specific retention periods to be supplied.
10. Learner and parent rights
Subject to the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, learners and their parents or guardians may ask to access, correct or delete personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, and raise a concern about how information is handled. We may need to verify the requester's identity and relationship to the learner before acting.
11. Security
We use organisational and technical safeguards intended to protect personal information. Access is limited according to a person's role and support need. No online service can promise absolute security, but suspected incidents are investigated and handled under applicable law.
12. Data requests and questions
Data access, correction, deletion and privacy questions should be sent to the data controller.
